Common Issues
The model download is stuck or failing
Ensure you have a stable internet connection. Models range from 75MB to 3GB. Try a smaller model first (Tiny or Base). If the download fails, restart DropVox and try again — it will resume where it left off.
The transcription isn't accurate
Try a larger model for better accuracy. The Small or Medium models work well for most audio. Also ensure the correct language is selected — or use Auto-Detect. Clear audio with minimal background noise gives the best results.
What audio formats are supported?
DropVox supports .opus (WhatsApp default), .mp3, .m4a, and .wav files. If your file isn't recognized, try converting it to one of these formats.
Does DropVox work offline?
Yes! After downloading a Whisper model, all transcription happens locally on your Mac with no internet required. Internet is only needed for the initial model download and license activation.
License & Billing
What's included in the free tier?
The free tier includes 3 transcriptions per day with a maximum duration of 60 seconds per file. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited transcriptions with no duration limits.
How do I activate my license?
Open DropVox, go to Settings > License, paste your license key, and click Activate. Your key was sent to the email you used at checkout.
How many machines can I use?
Each DropVox Pro license can be activated on up to 3 machines. If you need to move your license to a new machine, contact support.
I lost my license key
Visit the Restore License page and enter the email you used during purchase. We'll send your license key(s) to that email.
What happens when v2 is released?
Your Pro license covers all v1.x updates for free. When v2 releases with major new features, existing Pro users will get a discounted upgrade price. We'll never remove features you already paid for.

What are the system requirements?
DropVox requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later and an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). Intel Macs are not supported.
How much storage do the models use?
Models range from ~75MB (Tiny) to ~3GB (Large). You only download the model you choose. Models are stored in ~/Library/Caches/ and can be deleted anytime.
Is my audio sent to the cloud?
No. All transcription happens locally on your Mac using WhisperKit. Your audio files never leave your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Does DropVox or Helsky Labs access my audio?
Never. All processing happens locally on your Mac. We have zero access to your audio files, transcriptions, or any other data on your device. DropVox doesn't even have networking capabilities for audio transfer.
